Jan/Feb 2003

Inside this issue, we have lots of
good stuff!
We start with a Pantry Raid
(hmmm.....) by Stephen Lee - The Herbmeister. By the way, I got his book,
and it is just filled with great new ways to cook and serve side dishes.
He also sends a wonderful recipe.
We have plans for a tussie mussie
garden, with a listing of herbs and flowers with their meanings, so you can
start planning.
The Herb of the Year for 2003 is
glorious Basil. Maggie Savory Posselius gives us some fascinating history,
and ideas on using the oil and the herb.
David Brill of The Rosemary House
describes the use of bitters, and with spring on our heels (yes, I'm the eternal
optimist), it is time to think bitters.
For Valentine's Day, Maureen Rogers
writes on The Passionate Herbs....what works, what doesn't.
Instructions for using pressed
flowers and herbs to decorate a picture frame come from Michele Brown of Possum
Creek Herb Farm. She is also the co-editor of The Tattered Crows
Newsletter.
Wild Foods at the Table - a passion
of mine. I'm already browsing for new recipes and new things to search for
in the fields and woods. Thought I'd share a couple with you.....
